U.S. House of Representatives elections, 2010 - Illinois - IL-19

I don't publish the links to the websites of the candidates, because we should not focus on what they say, but what they did and how they voted in the past, especially at the issues, that are so important to our country’s survival! We don't need politicians who talk a good game but those, who play a good game as well! That's the reason for publishing a link to the congressional votes database, so you can also research how they voted -if you are interested- at other than the crucial issues. The voting in the past shows you, if the particular candidate worked for or against the Constitution and we the people, his constituents.

Incumbent: John Shimkus, Republican
running for re-election

John Shimkus

IMPORTANT WARNING: Don't visit Shimkus' campaign-website www.volunteersforshimkus.org!
We contacted Shimkus via the contact form at this website. After submitting the form (usually you'll get an info, that they thank you and will respond soon, or something in this line) there was the following message on the screen: Your actions violate the Federal computer crime law (18 U.S.C. 1030, Computer Fraud and Abuse Act). The entire text of the Act can be viewed at http://www.usdoj.gov/criminal/cybercrime/1030_new.html. Your IP address (xx.xx.xxx.xxx) and actions have also been reported to your ISP (xxxxx...) with a request for service interruption). At the phone numbers, which are published on this website, only mailboxes could be reached - nobody called back. We contacted Shimkus directly via his Congress-website and explained what happened, but no response! Question: do you think, that this politician cares for the people? Do you think, that a politician, who acts this way, who doesn't respond when his team screwed something up (and this is not a minor issue!) is the right politician to represent you in Washington? I doubt it!

4 (!) days later, a guy from Shimkus' office called and asked what happened. After he got the information, his comment was: "this was an *ironic* message, but I'll double-check. Don't worry." If this would have been an ironic message (btw: such kind of an *irony* is a NO-GO, if you fill out a form; this is a political campaign-website not a funny-site), why can't we reach the website anymore with our IP-address?
